What is an Independent Physician Association (IPA)?

An Independent Physician Association is a network of independent private physician practices who are supported by IPA staff (outside the doctors’ offices) to help coordinate comprehensive healthcare services, health education, disease prevention programs, contracting, and other administrative services for our members and doctors. The IPA is not a clinic and it does not practice medicine.

What’s the difference between AllCare IPA and my health plan?

A health plan provides its members with health benefit/coverage for medical, hospital, and preventive care services through contracted networks of physicians, hospitals, and other healthcare providers. AllCare IPA is a network of healthcare physicians and providers who have signed a contract with State and Federal medical programs to provide actual medical, dental, and mental health services.

Am I eligible to join AllCare IPA?

Accepted Answer

To join the IPA, you must meet the following criteria:
Independence and Practice Ownership:

Be an independent provider and an owner of a practice, or
Be a provider employed by ACMG or an organization such as an FQHC.

Credentialing Standards:

Providers must be credentialed in accordance with NCQA criteria.
Credentialing is reviewed every three years.
